Brief introduction

Ocean Seafood Village (海王城海鮮村) is within the city and very close to a few hotels like : Promenade, Le Meridien, and Tang Dynasty. Within 10-minutes drive from these hotels : Sutera Pacific/Magellan, Beverly,Hyatte, Berjaya Palace, and numerous family-rated lodgings. Due to this simple fact, this place is always packed with foreign tourists.
The building is independent, with plenty parking space. The setting is semi open-air type, there is a roof above, but without any walls. Therefore it is not air-conditioned. I heard this design is to suit the tourists' taste. Really?

Port View Seafood Village (不夜天海鮮村) is about some 600 meters away from Ocean Seafood Village, clustered among the food stalls lining the waterfront. This is a fully air-conditioned restaurant. This place is rather new, obviously is set up to catch some of the spill over from the other place further down the road.

Garden Seafood restaurant (海龍城海鮮樓) is situated in Tanjung Aru, a few hundred meters from the railway station. With independent building, lots of parking space. Reasonably priced, and frequented by locals.

Atlantis Seafood Restaurant (海洋城海鮮樓) is situated at the outskirt town of Golf View. It was formerly called Golf view Seafood Restaurant. The new management changed it to the present name. It is also in an independent building. This place has a wide portion in the semi open-air setting, and another portion with air-conditioned VIP rooms. Quite popular with the locals due to the reasonable prices charged.

Salut Seafood Village (沙律海鮮村) is far away outside KK city but quite close to Nexus Hotel/Karambunai Golf Resort, about half an hour casual drive from city center. If you are not in a hurry and can arrange for transportation, this is the place you should go. They have a number of ponds breeding prawns to ensure constant supply of fresh and live prawns. The building is on silt above the sea, so you will feel the sea breeze blowing at your face while you eat. Nice experience! This a favourite family outings spot for the locals during weekends and public holidays. So don't be surprised to see the crowds at this remote place!

Kampung Nelayan Theatre Seafood Restaurant (漁村海鮮樓) is inside the Tun Fuad Leisure Park where local families come to jog and exercise in the evenings. The building is in the shape of a fishing boat perched on the Tun Fuad Lake. This is also not air-conditioned, there is a stage where the local traditional dance groups employed by the management will perform to entertain the customers. No extra charges for the performance, nice deal.

Squeezed between other shop lots, Grand Port View Seafood Restaurant (新海港海鮮大酒樓) is air-conditioned and close to the commercial offices and banks, hence is preferred by business executives.

Dowish Seafood Restaurant (玉宝海鲜餐厅) is about 20-minutes drive from city center. It is at the junction of Jalan Penampang and Jalan Bundusan on which Atlantis Seafood Restaurant is situated. It is housed in an independent building and air-conditioned.

Crab King City (蟹王城) is in the Taman Hill Top Kolam Plaza shopping complex, about 15-minute drive from city center. It is fully air-conditioned and occupied 2 shop lots.

Lee Wong Kee Seafood Restaurant ( 李黃記餐廳) is in the Taman Hill Top Kolam Plaza shopping complex, about 15-minute drive from city center. It is fully air-conditioned and occupied 2 shop lots. And is one block away from Crab King City.

Equatorial Restaurant (貴都海鲜餐厅) In the newly opened Tanjung Aru Plaza, about 20-minute drive from city center. Occupies two shop lots, fully air-conditioned. Frequented by tourists.

Tung Shee Hai Seafood Restaurant ( 通四海海鮮樓) I is off the new ring road leading to the KK International Airport. If you are on transit and have a few hours to kill, why not check it out?

Luyang Restaurant (路陽酒家) It is on Jalan Kolam. It is the oldest seafood restaurant in town. Occupies one corner shop lot, no air-cond. Popular among the locals.

Win Yee Seafood Restaurant (榮裕海鲜餐厅) It is situated at Kepayan Ridge, about 30-minute drive from city center. Semi Open-air settings. Cheap beer. Also popular only among the locals.

Dragon Restaurant ( 龍門海鲜餐厅 ) is at Donggongon about 10 km from the city center. The majority of the residents are the Dusun Kadazan ethnic group, the taste is slightly different from the original Chinese flavour. Also popular only among the locals.

Bay View Seafood Restaurant (景村海鮮餐廳) is about 3km from the city center. It occupies the corner lot of the Likas Plaza and is easy to spot.

Seafood Restaurants - Tawau

Cowie Bay Seafood Restaurant : It has its own independent building, about 20-minutes drive from town center. It has the semi open-air type of setting.

Sabindo open-air seafood market : This place is at the extreme end of the large Sabindo shopping complex, lining the seaside. The stalls open at night only, selling all sorts of seafood here. If you don't mind eating by the roadside and under the starlight, I urge you to pay it a visit. You will find low priced fresh seafood here. By the way, Tawau supplies seafood to KK!

Seafood Restaurants - Sandakan

Ocean King Seafood Parlour (白沙湾海鲜坊): It is situated at Pasir Putih(White Sand), about 20-minute drive from town center. With its own independent building and appears a little secluded. Cheaper to eat here than any restaurant in KK.

Imperial Bayview Restaurant (皇景海鮮酒家 ): It is located at the just opened Sandakan Harbour Square. Fully air-conditioned, overlooking the Sandakan Port sea front.

Sandakan and Tawau produce more seafood than KK, in fact loads and loads of fresh seafood are transported to KK by road daily.
To taste real fresh seafood, go to Sandakan and Tawau.
You may order seafood in ordinary restaurants while in Tawau and Sandakan, you need not go to those restaurants specialized in serving seafood as in KK.
