This is a detailed map of Jalan Gaya and the shop lots nearby(KK City).It is adjacent to the KK City Municiple Council Building on the south, Jesselton Point (New Jetty) on the north , Jalan Pantai/Milimewa Superstore on the right and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman/the Town Padang(Merdeka Field)/long-distance taxi and bus terminals on the left.

Gaya Street area is the oldest and original sector of KK. I was told by older folks that Gaya Street was the original shoreline of the narrow strip of land extending from the Signal Hills, there was nothing but water beyond this line. Through earth dumping and other land reclaim efforts, the shoreline was then pushed to Jalan Pantai where Capital Hotel now stands.After Sabah joining Malaysia in the 60's, rapid development in the town were taking place and the shoreline was again pushed further outwards, buildings like Wisma Merdeka,Wisma Sabah, Hyatt Hotel,Kampung Ayer, SEDCO Complex,Sinsuran Complex and many others had sprung up like mushrooms after a rainfall.
Most of the banks in town were located here and some of them have since shifted to other sectors of the city like Api-Api Center to avoid the mad traffic congestion here. No matter how, this is still the hub of financial activities of KK City.
